Week 6 - LOVE LOVE LOVE

Unfortunately for Valentines Day, Johnny and I werent in Paris - the city of lurve, but we were in the beautiful town of Blonay, in Switzerland. John wanted to take me out for a real Swiss raclette, so his aunty Denise booked us into a nice restaurant in Montreux, and organised to take us there and pick us up (since we had no transport of our own).

We got all dressed up in our new outfits (I bought heels!! Thats a big deal for me LOL) and went to the restaurant, which was a typical Swiss one - wodden tables and chairs, big rooms and kinda cave-like. John was SOOO excited about the raclette, as his sister Jess had told him that when she had it, the whole block of cheese goes under the grill and you scrape off the melted cheese when youre ready!

Well. Much to Johns disgust, the 300 yr old waitress put a quarter of a wheel of cheese under the grill, waited until it bunrnt and then scraped it on top of my potatoes!! Johnny then had to wait until the next bit of cheese was melted before he could eat!! I thought it was hilarious! This special, romantic night he wanted was NOT going as he had hoped!

In the end, we found out that IS how a raclette is traditionally eaten. She ended up not burning the last few so that was good. I had to explain to Johnny that if the night had gone perfectly, then we probably wouldnt remember it as well as we will!! He managed a small smile, but not until the next day.

So, once again I had limited resources. I kept a piece of ribbon from the tag of Johns new shirt from Switzerland. I had just finished sewing some patches onto his backpack (real tourist-like), so the stitching came in handy! We handmade REALLY tacky Valentines cards for each other this year, and I drew these big hearts on mine, so I thought I'd replicate it and draw them on my card!!

I hope you like my cards so far!! I'll be looking at everyone elses when I get home from Europe!!

xx Siany!!
